Dog Training Scholarships

As a part of our Community Pet Support Program, we are able to offer scholarships for dog training. Paws4ever’s Dog Training Program offers dog training group classes and 1-on-1 private dog training lessons. Dog Training can help build strong dog-human bonds, address problem behaviors, and establish good dog manners. Paws4ever’s dog trainers are professional and supportive, and we use humane positive reinforcement methods only.

The regular price of our dog training classes are $135-$150 per 5-week group class or $100 per 1-hour private lesson. If you are in need of training for your dog and are unable to afford our regular rates, you may request a Dog Training Scholarship. A scholarship can provide up to a 5-week group class and 2 private lessons.

How do I request a dog training scholarship?

Fill out this form to tell us more about you and your dog’s needs. Then, our dog training program manager will be in contact with you shortly.

What kind and how many classes does the program cover?

The scholarship covers a maximum of one 5-week group class (either puppy school or adult beginner, aka middle school) and 2 private lessons depending on the training/behavior issue.

Do you have an income restriction for who can receive a dog training scholarship?

No, we want to minimize barriers to pet owners receiving support and we understand that income doesn’t necessarily correlate to financial need, especially during a temporary financial crisis. We will have a conversation with you to determine your needs and how we can best help you and your pet(s) and set you up for success in the future. However, we do ask that you only request this service if you truly need it so we can focus our efforts on pets and pet owners with the most need.

Do you have geographical limitations on who can take advantage of this program?

Anyone who lives in the surrounding counties (close enough to attend classes or lessons at Paws4ever) can take advantage of our training scholarship program. Our trainers can do in-home visits for private lessons, but these are determined on a case-by-case basis.

Does my dog need to be up-to-date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered to use the training scholarship?

Spay / Neuter:
Your dog does not need to be spayed/neutered to use the training scholarship; however, we highly encourage you spay and neuter your pet for their health and prevention of pet overpopulation. We can refer you to low-cost spay and neuter options in your area (call 919-241-8438 Ext. 103 or email care@paws4ever.org).

Vaccines:
The table below shows our vaccination requirements for the training scholarship program. We can refer you to low-cost vaccination options in your area (call 919-241-8438 Ext. 103 or email care@paws4ever.org). Bordetella can be purchased at local pet or hardware stores relatively cheaply and you can administer it to your dog yourself.
